Jameel House Cairo Opens Applications for 2-Year Programme

The Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo has opened applications for its 2026-2028 programme based at its campus in Fustat in Historic Cairo. Designed to preserve and revitalise traditional arts and crafts, the two-year programme offers courses in sacred geometry, observational drawing, colour harmony and decorative floral patterns, alongside specialised training in ceramics, glass and gypsum, metalwork and woodwork.

Founded in 2009, the school was established through a collaboration between Community Jameel, Egypt's Cultural Development Fund and The King's Foundation School of Traditional Arts in London. Together, the three organisations have created a programme dedicated to equipping students with the skills to preserve centuries-old craftsmanship whilst adapting it for the present day.

Egypt's Cultural Development Fund supports arts and culture through educational and cultural initiatives across the country, whilst The King's Foundation School of Traditional Arts in London specialises in teaching and preserving traditional arts from around the world through education and training. Community Jameel, is an independent global organisation founded in Saudi Arabia in 2003, that invests in programmes spanning the arts, education, health and climate, continuing a tradition of philanthropy established by the Jameel family in 1945.

Over the years, graduates of Jameel House Cairo have gone on to become prize-winning artists and designers, while many have established successful craft-based businesses of their own. With just 20 places available each year, the programme remains selective, offering a rare opportunity for aspiring artists and craftspeople to train in some of the country's most enduring artistic traditions.

Applicants can apply through the Community Jameel website by filling out their application form and submitting a portfolio. Applications close on 25th August 2026
