London-based architecture firm Foster + Partners unveiled their designs for the Equinox Resort Amaala hotel on Saudi Arabia’s West Coast, unveiling a dramatic floating canopy that welcomes visitors whether they come by car or boat.

The hotel, developed by world-renowned luxury and fitness lifestyle brand Equinox, is the first to be announced in the Amaala Marina Village, which was also designed by Foster + Partners for developers Red Sea Global.

Sitting in between pristine mountain ranges and crystal clear water, the Equinox Resort Amaala Hotel will have 128 rooms, including two luxury penthouses, and a design inspired by the stunning natural surroundings. It will also feature world-class culinary concepts, a beach club, a highly acclaimed spa and signature Equinox fitness club.

“Amaala brings the best in health and wellness together in an area of extraordinary natural beauty to offer exceptional and transformative experiences for guests,” John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, tells SceneHome. “Equinox’s unique brand of luxury and fitness is a fantastic fit, allowing visitors to seek self-improvement during their stay, get back to nature on land or at sea, or simply enjoy quiet moments with loved ones in comfort and privacy.”

Aside from the main porte-cochere and its bold introduction, the hotel will have four more open courtyards which, like the rest of the design, is informed by traditional Saudi Arabian architecture. The courtyards will include water features and landscaping that aims to naturally cool the air. Meanwhile, a magnesium salt pool will be placed on the rooftop overlooking the Red Sea.

Positioned with views to both the Marina Village, with its super yachts and lively promenade, on one side and the Hijaz cove on the other, the hotel features rooms that are carefully planned to capture either panoramic views.
