Envisioned as a date palm forest, the pavilion is poised to be one of the largest exhibits at the expo.

The UAE Ambassador to Japan has announced their participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, where the UAE Pavilion will showcase compelling narratives spanning the past, present and future. As a Type A, self-built pavilion, it will stand out as one of the largest country exhibits at the event.

Inspired by the core values of conservation and coexistence, the pavilion draws from the traditional date palm tree, reflecting UAE heritage, and integrates it with distinctive Japanese wooden construction techniques. Demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to sustainability, the design utilises palm tree rachis, sourced from agricultural waste, to create innovative building methodologies that honour both local heritage and environmental responsibility.

Serving as a collaborative platform for co-creating solutions that drive collective progress, the pavilion reflects Expo 2025 Osaka’s sub-theme, ‘Empowering Lives’, within the broader theme of ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’.

“We are honoured to mark this occasion at the remarkable Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan, where nations will come together to share the latest technologies, foster innovative ideas, and collaborate on solutions to address the global challenges facing humanity,” Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of State tells SceneHome.

Rooted in ancestral knowledge and values of conservation and coexistence, this design approach highlights how the past shapes and enriches the present and future through the mindful and resourceful use of natural resources.

Scheduled to begin in April 2025, the exhibit will feature diverse programming and interactive displays, centred around the UAE’s ambitious efforts in innovation and research across healthcare, space exploration, and sustainable technologies.
