Obelisque Design Award to Celebrate Young Egyptian Creatives

Egypt’s leading furniture fair, Le Marché, has teamed up with Art D’Égypte and design hub, Esorus, to invite young creatives to compete for their newly-announced Obelisque Design Award (@obelisquedesignaward.oda).

The invitation to submit innovative product design projects is open to teams and individuals of young designers working with furniture, lighting, accessories, textiles and/or new materials for interior design. In the spirit of inclusivity, those at any stage of their career can apply, providing they fall below the age of 45.

Beyond searching for something new and unconventional, the soon-to-be-announced international judging panel will be assessing submitted designs based on criterion of sustainability, functionality and feasibility. 

Those lucky enough to be shortlisted will be invited to produce a prototype of their designs to exhibit at a creative and exciting black-tie awards ceremony taking place later this year. 

Following an envelope-reveal to an audience of Egypt’s design industry key players, the winner of the Obelisque Design Award will receive the chance to produce their product with industry leaders as well as a scholarship for a design course in their respective field.
